The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has passed away at the age of 91.

The highly respected monarch, who ruled for over 60 years, reportedly died on Sunday, 13th July 2025—just hours after news broke of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona ascended the throne in 1960 and is one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning and most revered traditional rulers. Celebrated for his cultural influence, political insight, and unwavering integrity.
